Description We have a procedure for the creation of organized units in our Operations Manual. It requires a proposal containing a justification, organizations structure, business plan and review process to be submitted to the Provost. He obtains comments from the Deans and the faculty Senate and makes a recommendation to the President who can approve it. The Institute for a Sustainable Environment (ISE) was created in 2010. It has a 5 year, renewable life and we are in the process of preparing the strategic plan for the future that will serve as the renewal proposal. Campus sustainability is a critical element of the ISE strategic plan.

A Campus Sustainability committee supports the work of the ISE throughout all campus functions. This committee of ~12 individuals includes representatives from all major campus operations and academic functions and leaders of student sustainability related groups.
