Description On September 24, 2012 President Dianne F. Harrison requested the university's Institute for Sustainability and its affiliates create a sustainability plan for the campus. Five persons served as the planning committee and an outline was drawn up which identified ten focus area to be addressed in the plan. Nine faculty affiliates served as authors of plan sections and the campus Green Core Team (a group of two dozen individuals working on sustainability initiatives in various campus divisions) and others responsible for operations were consulted. A draft of the plan was submitted to President Harrison on January 11, 2013. An implementation schedule is currently being drafted (May, 2013). The plan includes initiatives in the following focus areas: Administration, Dining Services, Education, Energy and Buildings, Environmental Quality, Organics, Purchasing and Consumption, Transportation, Waste and Materials Management and Water. The Climate Action Plan will be drafted from a sub-group of affiliates responsible for the relevant sections (Energy and Buildings, Transportation) of the broader sustainability plan.
